Firefighters battled a structure fire at a domed entertainment venue in Orlando, Florida on Monday.  Around 30 firefighters responded to the blaze, which began just before 3 p.m., at the interactive Pirate's Dinner Adventure just of of International Drive.

"It started in our theater, but the fire department got here quickly and evacuated our building," said Skyler Rankin, a spokesman with the Pirate's Dinner Adventure. "Thankfully, everyone got out safely,"

Rankin said the venue had been closed for repairs, due to damage from Hurricane Irma and was scheduled to reopen to the public in late May.

"They did have a significant amount of heat on the inside, so we deployed several different hose lines to help control the heat from the fire," said Orange County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Brett Wasmund.

One person was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.   The view from SkyFOX showed significant damage to a section of the domed, tarp roof.

"Some of the typical tactics we would use on a building made of wood, iron, or steel is not going to work when you have a dome, but in Orange County, we have a lot of unique structures," Chief Wasmund added,  "so we are constantly adapting to meet the challenges."

More than 200 employees were laid off after the building was damaged by Irma in September of last year.  Rankin said the extent of the damage was not yet known, but he said they are hoping it will not delay the re-opening of the entertainment venue.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
