Central Florida Regional Hospital opens new ER in Sanford

Seminole County residents now have a new place to get treated in case of an emergency.

On Wednesday morning, Central Florida Regional Hospital opened the doors to their brand new, freestanding emergency room on International Parkway in Sanford.

The new, full-service facility employs 55 staff members and five emergency medical physicians, allowing for 24/7 care, 365 days a year.

Hospital officials are hopeful the new facility will provide faster and better care to patients.

"This enables us to decompass our ER as well as other ERs in the community and offer a service where this is minimal wait time," Trey Abshier, CEO of Central Florida Regional Hospital, told Fox 35.

The new ER expects to serve over 7,000 residents each year.
