Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick resigned from Congress on Tuesday, effective immediately, moments before the House Ethics Committee could meet to potentially discipline her. She called the House Ethics Committee proceeding unfair. She faces federal criminal charges alleging she used federal disaster funds to support her congressional campaign. She has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
