Daytona Beach man found guilty after 2021 shootout with police officers

The trial for a Daytona Beach man who was in a shoot-out with police for more than seven hours has come to an end. A Volusia County jury has sentenced Joseph Jaynes to six counts of attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer. In 2021, Daytona Beach police officers were on patrol when they heard a single gunshot fired. Officers found Jaynes who refused to put down the rifle in his hands, which sparked a seven-hour-long standoff.
