Truck crashes into Bunnell post office, temporarily closes facility

What we know:

The Bunnell Post Office is temporarily closed after a mid-size pickup truck crashed into the building Thursday, causing structural damage but no serious injuries, according to authorities.

The crash occurred when the driver of the truck reportedly pressed the gas pedal by accident, propelling the vehicle over the sidewalk and into the brick building, police said. The driver was not injured.

Inside the post office, a customer standing in the hallway between the service counter and P.O. boxes requested to be taken to the hospital for evaluation, but no additional injuries were reported.

The facility will remain closed for the rest of Thursday and into Friday while damages are assessed. The drop box at the exit remains operational for letter drop-offs, but P.O. boxes will not be accessible until the building reopens.

What we don't know:

The identity of the driver has not been released and it has not been shared if charges will be pressed.
