Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer retires after 40 years

The third-longest living member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Maryland's Steny Hoyer, announced on the house floor on Jan. 8, that he would not be seeking re-election. After nearly 45 years serving in the house, Hoyer said "this house is not living up to the founder's goals."
