Orlando resident donates his 150th gallon of blood

A 73-year-old Orlando man is doing his part to help the community.

James Godwin has saved countless lives, having donated blood since the 1970s. On Wednesday he hit a milestone: Godwin donated his 150th gallon of blood at One Blood's Michigan Street location in Orlando.

 



 

 

Godwin typically gives platelets that are used for patients fighting cancer and those who depend on vital platelet transfusions. 

Even with people like Godwin who are committed to saving lives by taking just a few minutes out of their day to donate, OneBlood is always in need of donations.

Platelet donations are in high demand are typically used in hospitals.
