11-year-old injured in Mims shooting, deputies say

An 11-year-old is recovering after he was struck by a bullet in Mims, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they responded to Parrish Medical Center on Friday around 4 p.m. over reports of the shooting.

Officials said the boy suffered a non-life-threatening injury.

It is believed the boy was struck by a bullet intended for a person he was with, according to deputies.

The investigation remains ongoing.
