Firefighters rescued a rider and his horse that became stuck in the mud near Hansen Dam in the Shadow Hills area of Los Angeles Tuesday evening.

Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department were called to the 10800 block of W. Wentworth Street at about 6 p.m. and used air support to locate the rider and his horse.

The horse was seen moving and didn't appear to have any injuries, according to the L.A. Fire Department. The rider was safe and not injured.

Search and Rescue teams brought specialized equipment to attempt to free the horse from the mud. Firefighters were eventually able to rescue the horse and a veterinarian was called to evaluate the horse.

A woman nearby --unrelated to the horse rescue, also became stuck in the mud. She did not appear injured either as firefighters got her out of the mud safely.

A third person was also being reported as missing on scene, according to Los Angeles Fire Department. A grid search was conducted to try and locate that person. It's unknown how multiple individuals could become deeply stuck in the mud.

No further details were immediately known.
