Unlicensed daycare owner arrested for child abuse
A Titusville woman has been arrested and charged with child abuse on an infant in her care.
Police say 47-year-old Dawn Garcia was arrested on Saturday after an investigation that started this summer.
In August police were alert by hospital officials and DCF of a possible abuse of an infant.
Police evidence shows that the child's injuries are consistent with abusive head trauma, or Shaken Baby Syndrome.
According to police, the abuse happened while the child was at an in-home unlicensed daycare facilitated by Garcia.
Garcia was booked into the Brevard County Jail with a $25,000 bond.
No word on the condition of the child.
