FDOT announces ramp, road closures

The westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) on-ramp from State Road (S.R.) 436 and Wymore Road near Westmonte Drive are temporarily closing for the weekend beginning the night of November 3.

The S.R. 436 ramp closure is from 10 p.m. Friday, November 3, until 5 a.m. Monday, November 6. The Wymore Road closure begins at 8 p.m. Friday and concludes by 6 a.m. Monday.

Construction at the S.R. 436 and I-4 interchange has been increasing throughout 2017.  Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.

Sanford road closing

Motorists who use a local road east of Sanford as a popular back way, will want to consider another route, as Richmond Avenue, near the intersection of S.R. 46 closes for two weeks.

The closure is needed to install a pipe underneath Richmond Avenue. The closure begins tomorrow/Friday afternoon, November 3, 2017. Richmond Avenue is expected to reopen by Friday evening, November 17, 2017. Detours are in place.

The closure is part of a larger project calling for safety improvements to S.R. 46, extending from S.R. 415 to Cameron Wight Park. The safety improvements include audible pavement markings, widening turn lanes to accommodate bike lanes and some realignment to side streets. The overall project cost is $1.5 million and construction is set to conclude in early 2018.
