Deputy pulled from vehicle after it set on fire

A deputy was pulled from his vehicle after it set on fire on S.R. 408 Sunday morning, reports the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). 

FHP says that a Orange County Deputy's patrol SUV was traveling westbound on S.R. 408 in the right lane. Another vehicle was also traveling westbound in the right lane, in front of the deputy. That vehicle had a mechanical issue, so the driver. identified as 54-year-old Emmanuel Dorvil, activated his flashers and tried to get off the roadway. 

FHP goes on to say that the deputy failed to slow down and the front, right of the patrol vehicle struck the left, rear of the vehicle in front. The patrol vehicle then caught fire. 

The deputy. identified as 41-year-old Jamie Hoffman, was pulled from the vehicle by bystanders, according to the FHP report. Hoffman was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Dorvil also only had minor injuries.

This crash is still under investigation at this time.
