Orlando man arrested after woman stabbed to death outside Ocoee Planet Fitness, police say

OCOEE, Fla. - A woman died after being ‘gravely’ injured outside an Ocoee Planet Fitness Friday morning, police said. 

Around 7:30 a.m., police responded to reports of a disturbance in the Planet Fitness parking lot. 

When they arrived they found Jessica L. Steigelman, of Winter Garden, lying on the ground unresponsive and a man, 55-year-old Shannon W. King, being held by two bystanders.  

Steigelman died from her injuries at a local area hospital 

King, who is from Orlando, is considered a prime suspect in the homicide case and has been arrested.

Planet Fitness shared the following statement with FOX 35:

"Our thoughts are with the victim. We are cooperating with police in their investigation and do not have any additional information to share at this time. We refer you to the appropriate local authorities." 

Police said Steigelman was stabbed and the incident appears to be domestic in nature. 

No other details have been released.
