NEWS

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Management of the editorial content and staff for assigned newscasts, along with the web site and social media platforms. Must demonstrate solid news judgment and creative writing and producing skills. Must be a leader with the ability to supervise and work with anchors, reporters, editors, producers and production crew to produce winning newscasts with clean on-air look. Decisive, authoritative leader with strong communication skills and the ability to build a strong team environment. Must be able to integrate social media with broadcast television. At least three years’ experience working in a TV newsroom as a major market producer or smaller market news manager. Must be flexible and able to handle pressure and meet deadlines.

ASSIGNMENT MANAGER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Manage daily news coverage and operation of the assignment desk to include the following duties: Develop and implement strategies for effective, efficient and smooth operation of the assignment desk to ensure maximum news production and most efficient use of resources for both broadcast and all digital platforms. Work with field crews to maximize content and logistics of daily news coverage. Attend editorial meetings. Monitor scanners for breaking news. Assign news crews to cover stories. Gather meaningful news information from available sources for newscasts. Work closely with other news managers and producers in executing daily and future story coverage. Supervise assignment editors to ensure strategic coverage goals and objectives are met. Oversee daily planning functions to ensure consistent news coverage of continuing stories and sharing of resources among newscasts. Supervise station's role in Local News Service. Plan coverage of special events, such as the Daytona 500, sports championships, parades, etc. Supervise Planning Producer to develop and execute strategies for future news stories, projects and newscasts. Ensure follow-up stories and assignments are pursued. Supervise social media efforts from assignment desk staff. College/University degree in broadcast journalism or other related field. A minimum of three years' experience on a TV news assignment desk preferred. Working knowledge of newsroom computers, the Internet and computer-assisted reporting.

DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Conceptualize and produce high-profile, creative and engaging material for use across the station's digital platforms, including text stories, photos, links and related information. Post and engage users on the station's social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Perform duties of on-line writer/producer, specializing in print style writing, copy editing and editorial gathering. Facilitate the editorial gathering of local news and breaking news stories, gleaning information from various sources and contacts and reproducing the above material into strong compelling digital content. Apply commonly-accepted standards of journalism. Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 2 years of online, mobile and social production management experience preferred. Expert knowledge of digital production, traffic reporting and ad serving systems. Solid understanding of online standards, design and usability. Skills in all areas of a/v digitizing, editing and encoding techniques. Position demands excellent online/social writing, video editing, interface design and production skills. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JSP, FLASH, Adobe Creative Suite and mobile applications. Ability to work under pressure as a cohesive member of a team.

PLANNING PRODUCER/ASSIGNMENT EDITOR – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): PLANNING: Plan coverage and produce content for all newscasts. Work closely with executive producers, producers and reporters to ensure that stories are enterprised and accommodated in newscasts. Daily duties include researching story ideas, booking guests, conducting interviews, and producing stories & segments for the newscasts. Understand the logistics of the assignment desk and the needs of a newscast through a producer's eyes. Work with web site in developing stories, segments and projects to work in conjunction with newscasts. EDITOR: Responsible for gathering story info from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. Make decisions on what stories to cover and assign/dispatch crews. Keep news staff apprised of breaking news and changes in assignments. Make beat check calls to law enforcement and other governmental agencies. Communicate with affiliates to ensure continuity in coverage. Coordinate coverage of special events. College degree in broadcast journalism or other related field. Previous assignment desk and/or producing experience preferred. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment and good news writing skills. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Must be able to work well in a fast paced environment. Working knowledge of newsroom computers and the Internet. Overtime, holidays and varied hours required.

ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Oversee the day-to-day news gathering operation for department of 80+ producing more than 55 hours of broadcast news per week. Oversee digital content and initiatives as well as the integration with television and all digital media/social platforms. Will be involved in all phases of newsroom management including hiring, budgeting and formatting Good people skills and strong leadership abilities are essential. Seasoned broadcast journalist with prior news management experience preferred. Must be well versed in organizational and personnel matters. Detail oriented. Outstanding story telling skills. Knowledge of newsroom computer systems and the Internet.

ASSIGNMENT EDITOR – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Responsible for gathering story info from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. Make decisions on what stories to cover and assign/dispatch crews. Keep news staff apprised of breaking news and changes in assignments. Plan news stories for future coverage and coordinate coverage for special events. Make beat check calls to law enforcement and other governmental agencies. Communicate with affiliates to ensure continuity in coverage. Write, edit and post stories on the station’s website and social media platforms; on-air, on-line, in-mobile and social. A minimum of two years’ experience in TV news, including assignment desk experience preferred. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment and good news writing skills. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Must be able to work well in a fast paced environment. Overtime, holidays and varied hours required.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Write stories for news programs and use across the station's digital platforms, including text stories, photos, links and related information. Select appropriate video and sound for stories on air. Assist anchors, reporters and producers in preparing stories for broadcast and the web. Produce newscasts as needed under management supervision. Seek out and identify engaging content and post on the station's social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Work with the assignment desk in gathering information from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. Keep news staff apprised of breaking news and changes in assignments. Make beat check calls to law enforcement and other governmental agencies. Communicate with affiliates to ensure continuity of coverage. College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or equivalent job experience. Strong creative writing skills and news and editorial judgment are a must. Must be proficient in social media and have an eye for content that will engage viewers on social media. Must be well organized, able to manage multiple projects and work well under deadline pressure. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment, and ENG & SNG remotes is strongly preferred.

SALES

LOCAL SALES MANAGER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve station goals on-air and online. Analyze rates and manage inventory. Create commission plans that will enable the team to achieve its goals. Train and motivate local account executives. Oversee selling efforts, including new business, through traditional and non-traditional revenue streams, packaging and pricing. Build ratings estimates and selling retail strategies. Develop strong client relationships and engage with client entertainment. Broadcast sales management experience preferred. Proven record, leadership skills, strong motivational skills and the ability to teach. Strong organizational abilities, polished presentation, speaking and negotiating skills. Good communication skills and the ability to develop relationships. Must be detail and deadline oriented. Knowledge of Scarborough, CMR and Wide Orbit desired. Experience in inventory management. Comprehensive computer and software knowledge. Must have valid driver's license.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Develop understanding of FOX35, MY65 and fox35orlando.com products. This is a multi-platform sales opportunity responsible for increasing share on transactional accounts, generating new non-traditional business and online sales. Develop relationships with existing TV advertisers and their agencies. Produce and present effective sales strategies to existing and developed accounts that solve client problems and increase station revenues. College degree and a minimum of two years' work experience preferred. Candidate should possess top communication skills and be service oriented. Experience with new business development preferred. Knowledge of Scarborough, NSI, Wide Orbit, Media Sales, Rentrak and general computer skills a plus. Must have valid driver's license.

Description: Fox Television Stations Sales is seeking applicants for its Sales Training Program. The overall goal of the Training Program is to provide an internal pool of talent for future Account Executive positions within Fox Television Stations and Fox Stations Sales. Individuals must commit to a three-year program and must be geographically mobile. Assignments during and after completion of the program may be in any of the Fox Stations Sales offices or Stations located throughout the continental United States.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assumes responsibilities for the retention and application of knowledge imparted through the training sessions and supplemental development modules.  
  • To gain the knowledge and training required for the position of an Account Executive within the Fox organization.
  • Assumes responsibility for the accuracy and consistency of work assigned and for its completion within the time schedules determined by the Program Trainer.
  • Assumes responsibility for the understanding and retention of knowledge of all Company policies and procedures pertinent to this position and as an Employee of the Company.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Formal educational background.
  • Aggressive self-starter with excellent communication, computer and organizational skills.
  • Two-three years prior related work experience.
  • Must be geographically mobile within the continental United States.
  • Must be able to commit to a three-year program and sign a Personal Services Agreement for up to three years.
