Deputy meets heroes who saved his life

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The pictures and video paint the picture of how different this story could have ended. 

On the morning of July 1, 2018, Orange County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sgt. Jamie Hoffman's patrol car crashed on State Road 408, between Pine Hills and Old Winter Garden roads. The cruiser burst into flames, and Hoffman was left unconscious from the crash. Four good Samaritans came to the injured deputy's aid and pulled him from the burning car.
 
"I remember gaining partial consciousness, when I woke up.  I remember them trying to pull me out of the car, I remember being laid over, and sitting up, and seeing the car on fire," Sgt. Hoffman explained.

Hoffman had the opportunity to meet those people who came to his rescue. Those four were also be presented with a joint lifesaving award by Mayor Jerry L. Demings, Sheriff John Mina and Fire Chief Otto Drozd III.

Hoffman is forever grateful, knowing these complete strangers risked their lives to save his.

"I don't know if I would have gained enough consciousness to get out of the vehicle on my own, without their help, before i got burned up."

The good Samaritans include a husband and wife, military veteran and nurse.
