SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - It was a touching moment fit for a hero, as Deputy William Dunn was honored at the Seminole County Sheriff’s Foundation.
“I still can’t believe it to this day,” Dunn tells FOX 35.
Doctors have credited Deputy Dunn with saving a 3 -year-old’s life. Back in June, the toddler was left in a hot car for hours.
“I didn’t expect her to be in the car when I first got there, and when I saw her, I really don’t remember too much. The training kicks in, and I was hoping that she hadn’t passed. Myself, doctors, dispatchers, all the law enforcement that was on duty that day, they all played a role in it., says Dunn of everyone who helped to save the toddler’s life.
Thursday night took on a different meaning for the deputy, who was surprised with a promotion to sergeant.
“Surprised, very surprised, humbled. It was unexpected.” Dunn says.
The toddler made a full recovery and her mother was arrested.
