DeBary sinkhole closes portion of road

A sinkhole is causing traffic troubles in DeBary again this Sunday morning, as the hole has shut down a portion of U.S. 17-92. The road is expected to remain closed as the work week begins.

Crews thought they would have fixed this hole up, but it came back and is growing even wider now. Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) workers say a waterline break around 11 a.m. on Saturday caused it to sink back in deeper and wider, almost taking a power line down with it.

So far, residents in the nearby apartment complex have not been evacuated. Meanwhile, FDOT is scrambling to fix the sinkhole permanently.
