Colorful butterfly art brightens Downtown Orlando

- If you’ve been downtown Orlando lately you might have noticed the beautiful orange butterflies being painted at Orange Ave and South Street.

“One of my favorite things about this particular location is that it’s on Orange Avenue which is great and then just to see these big bright beautiful butterflies,”  said Jane Kim, founder of Ink Dwell.

In the heart of downtown, right next to city hall and the Dr. Phillips center for the performing art,  a little splash of color is brightening up downtown in the form of Monarch butterflies.

“What you see behind us is something called the Migrating Mural, and the migrating mural is a series of art installations painted along migrations corridors of wildlife,” said Kim.

Kim has been working on the mural with her team for nearly three and a half weeks, they just finished another installation of the colorful butterflies at Full Sail university, supporting The Nature Conservancy’s Monarch initiative.

“It’s really nice to see a splash of wildlife and color in an urban setting,” Kim said.

We’re told the mural should be complete by Saturday.
