City discusses making panhandlers get permit before asking for money

The City of Leesburg is coming up with a plan on how to deal with aggressive panhandlers.

On Monday, council members will discuss making it mandatory for panhandlers to get a permit if they want to beg for money.

The ordinance would ban people from approaching vehicles at intersections, blocking sidewalks, and going into businesses with 'no solicitation' signs.

Monday is only the first reading of the ordinance. You can weigh in during a public hearing later this month.
