A new exhibit is open at the Brevard Zoo.

Guests can now see the Florida black bear habitat in the Wild Florida section of the zoo.

In a news release, the habitat will feature 5,000 square feet of pools, trees, boulders and other elements to house a 2-year-old female bear.

Zoo officials say she represents the beginning of the zoo's commitment to providing a permanent home for rescued bears.

The yet-to-be-named bear was brought to the zoo last August, after the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission responded to a report of a Tallahassee-area woman providing dog food and water to a bear.
