Sheriff: Uncle staged crime scene after niece shot, killed

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said Monday that CJ Nelson Sr. had been arrested in connection to the shooting death of his 18-month-old niece in September 2023. Authorities allege that Nelson Sr. helped stage the scene where the shooting occurred, including wiping the gun for fingerprints, moving the gun to the bedroom, and telling family members to provide an alibi for him and his son, CJ Nelson Jr., who was indicted previously on a manslaughter charge in connection to the girl's death.
