MegaCon gets underway at Orange County Convention Center

Calling all fans of, well just about anything: Megacon is back in Orlando.

On Thursday, the annual sci-fi, comic, and all-things-fandom convention opened for its 2019 event at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.  The event runs Thursday through Sunday and has become known for their yearly display of merchandise, panels, and celebrity guests representing beloved franchises of all kinds.

This year, some of the highlights include original Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter, Zachary Levi from the new movie Shazam!, and David Tennant of Doctor Who fame. Some of the biggest draws are expected to be reunions at the event this year including the casts of Smallville, Boy Meets World, The Goonies, The Mickey Mouse Club, and Back to the Future.

"This is a place of discovery: you find new fandoms,” said event Vice President Andrew Moyes. “It's a place of celebration and it's also a place of belonging. People come here and they feel they're at one with the community - they celebrate each other."

By the time doors opened Thursday, many fans were already lined up in costume to begin the fun.
Tickets are still on sale at the Orange County Convention Center and will be throughout the weekend.
