Portion of I-4 closing in Altamonte Springs as old bridge is demolished

One direction of Interstate 4 (I-4) through Altamonte Springs will be temporarily closed under Central Parkway for eight nights beginning on October 30th, reports the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the I-4 Ultimate Project.

They say that the eastbound I-4 lanes will close from midnight to 5 a.m. on October 30th, October 31st, November 1st, and November 2nd. Motorists can use Montgomery Road or S.R. 434 to make their way to the eastbound I-4 on-ramp from S.R. 434.

The westbound lanes of I-4 will also close, FDOT and the I-4 Ultimate Project reports. The closure times are from midnight to 5 a.m. on November 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. Motorists can use Montgomery Road or S.R. 436 to make their way to the westbound I-4 ramp from S.R. 436.

FDOT and the I-4 Ultimate Project says that these nightly closures are necessary to safely demolish a portion of the old Central Parkway bridge over the interstate and make way for construction of the remainder of the permanent bridge.
