UCF Beats Illinois-Chicago

With new Athletics Director Danny White and head football coach Scott Frost in the house, the UCF men’s basketball team put on a show, ousting Illinois-Chicago 88-58. The Knights’ second consecutive win improves them to 3-3 on the season.

The Knights jumped out to a big lead in the first half, outscoring the Flames 13-1 in the first six minutes of the game. Junior Justin McBride played a big role during that run, scoring six of his 14 points.

Defense kept UCF rolling as they extended their lead to 22 points by the end of the first half.

The pounding continued in the second half as the Knights held UIC to a field goal percentage of 31.4 and forced 16 turnovers. The Knights also blocked 13 shots on the night, which is tied for third most in UCF single-game history.

Senior Daiquan Walker charged the offense in the second half as he scored 17 of his 21 points in the final 20 minutes. At one point in the second half, Walker scored seven consecutive points for UCF, while also tallying the Knights’ final six points with a pair of three pointers.
