Owls Fly Past Knights

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (UCFKnights.com) – A last-second, half-court heave from A.J. Davis bounced off the front of the rim, giving UCF men’s basketball another heartbreaking loss against American Athletic Conference leader Temple, 63-61.

Down by four with 2:23 remaining in the game, senior and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native Daiquan Walker rallied the Knights on a 4-0 run with a quartet of free throws to tie the game with one minute left in the game.

The Black & Gold locked down defensively to force an Owls three pointer as the shot clock expired, but TU was able to grab the long rebound and reset with 20 seconds remaining.

With 3.8 seconds left, Temple senior Quenton DeCosey sank a heavily contested 15-foot jump shot over Matt Williams to take a 63-61 lead.

Following a UCF timeout, the Knights inbound the ball to Davis, who chucked a half-court shot that clanked off the front of the rim, giving Temple the victory.

-  Tacko Fall filled the stat sheet, recording his second career double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
-  The freshman also tallied five blocks and now sits at 61 for the season, which ranks third in UCF single-season history.

Daiquan Walker scored a game-high 21 points, grabbed six boards and dished out three assists.

The Knights return to CFE Arena for their final home game of the 2015-16 season on Mar. 2 against Tulane at 7 p.m. The game will also be Senior Night for Staphon Blair, Shaheed Davis and Daiquan Walker.
