Orlando Magic players go Christmas shopping with kids

- The spirit of the season is alive and well with members of the Orlando Magic.  They helped make a magical Christmas for some needy children.

Boys and girls were beaming as they shopped side-by-side with NBA stars Nikola Vucevic and Elfrid Payton.  Children attending the shopping spree are from the West Sanford, Taft and West Orange branches of the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Payton said it's important to show the community's youth that they matter.  He added, "show them that we care, that they're not forgotten about that there's people here to help them."

One hundred children received $100 Walmart gift cards, courtesy of PepsiCo. Smith, Frye and Foier and the Magic.  Vucevic says the kids aren't the only ones who get something out of the experience

"It's always fun, it's a good time, a lot of smiles, you see a smile on their face when they get a gift," Vucevic said, "so it's always a good time- we always enjoy doing these things."

The event was part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving.

"God's blessed us to be in the position we are today, so it's only right that we give back to them- help them as much as we can," said Payton.
