New seats installed in Orlando soccer stadium

Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride got one step closer to their new soccer stadium as the first seats were installed on Thursday. The venue is set to be ready for both club’s 2017 seasons.

During the event, key executives provided updates on stadium development and help install the first fan seat in the stands.

Once construction is complete, nearly 26,000 fans will be able to cheer on the Lions and Pride in their new home.

“Today’s event is really significant,” Jason McFadden, Barton Malow Company Project Director, said. “The first seat installation is really the first major event that the fans get to partake in.”

The pigment used to create the colorful new purple seats was found in vines and is currently not being used in any other sporting venue in the country.

“Today, as you can see being inside the stadium some of you for the first time, our dream is becoming a reality,” Phil Rawlins, Orlando City SC Founder and President, said.

Orlando SC is scheduled to kick off the new MLS season at the stadium in March 2017.
