JASON DAY has continued Australia’s golfing hot streak by taking out the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in a tense finish.
Day claimed his eighth victory on the US PGA Tour, shooting a final round of two-under-par 70 to finish at 17-under 271 and win from American Kevin Chappell.
The victory followed back-to-back wins in the US by fellow Australian Adam Scott earlier this month, in yet another encouraging sign ahead of next month’s Masters.
Day made a shaky start to the final hole but played a fine recovery from a greenside bunker before making a five-foot putt for victory.
The victory — Day’s first since the BMW Championship late last year — means he will climb back to No.2 in the world.
Scott, who was chasing a third straight win, finish tied 12th at nine under.
