PALM BAY, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - Rob Querry, the head coach of the Heritage High School baseball team, is making good on a promise he made to his players and will let them name his baby after they achieved the school's first winning season.
The Panthers won their 14th game of the year Tuesday night meaning 2016 will be Heritage High School's first winning season in the team's 7 year history.
However the win also means the Panthers get to name coach Querry's son who is due in September.
He told his players at the start of the season that he'd let them select whatever name they want if they won 14 games as a a form of motivation.
Luckily for Rob, his wife got on board wuth the idea as well. "I just kind of rolled with it," Rob's wife Julia Querry said. "They hadn't won any games yet, so i just decided to go with it and see how far they got."
The team has already made their choice of "Benny Smalls" as it combines two characters from the classic baseball movie "The Sandlot".
