Volusia County Beach Patrols finds iguana in surf

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Volusia County Beach Safety officers found a roaming reptile in the surf on Thursday.

"We had an interesting creature found on the beach today about 2:30 p.m.," said Senior Captain Tamra Marris.  "An iguana made its way to the beach somehow."

The iguana was rescued and taken to the Marine Science Center for care.  Authorities said the reptile did not appear to be a pet and was malnourished.
