Victim in fatal Cocoa shooting identified

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in Cocoa.

George Dewey, 28, of Cocoa, died at the scene of an altercation on Venus Drive.  Deputies said a disagreement between Dewey and another person escalated into a violent encounter.  Dewey and at least one other individual who is not being identified at this time exchanged gunfire.

No arrests have been made at this time and Homicide agents and Crime Scene investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and evaluate evidence. The factual findings will be forwarded to the State Attorney's Office once the investigation is completed.
