Daytona police have arrested a man they say admitted to pointing a laser at a pilot and control tower while a plane was landing.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports police arrested 23-year-old Gerardo Sanchez Sunday night on a charge of pointing a laser light at a driver or pilot.

Police responded to a call made by the control tower at Daytona Beach International Airport regarding a green laser being pointed at the tower and a plane. They found Sanchez walking along a street and stopped him.

Officers say he admitted to possessing a laser and pointing it in the vicinity of the plane. Police also say Sanchez told them he was an aviation student.

Sanchez was booked at Volusia County Branch Jail. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
