Two arrested in shooting death of man on scooter

Two people have been arrested in the fatal shooting of an Orange County man found dead near his motorized scooter last month.

A 16-year-old is charged with first degree murder.  Jasen Checo, 19, is charged with first degree felony murder.

Keven Padilla, 18, was killed on Rio Pinar Lakes Boulevard on February 6.   Investigators first thought it was an accident, then they found a shell casing nearby.   It was then determined that his injuries were not crash-related, but rather, he sustained a gunshot wound.

Padilla was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition and was later taken off life support.  Authorities say the 16-year-old suspect and the victim were acquaintances.

The two suspects have been booked into the Orange County Jail.
