Seminole High School student arrested for bringing drug-laced candy

- Sanford Police arrested a Seminole High School student for possession of gummies containing THC after one student was reported ill from consuming the illegal gummy candies.

On December 14, 2016, the Sanford Police School Resource Officer assigned to Seminole High, was contacted by a parent of a student who was not feeling well after eating a gummy laced with THC.

Witnesses stated the student had purchased a 200 mg gummy 'edible' that morning, and was sick as a result.

The investigation found student Brady Burnell in possession of two THC gummy squares, packaged in separate small Ziploc bags. The preliminary investigation indicates that more of these gummies have been sold throughout Sanford and the surrounding communities.

The gummy squares appear similar to ordinary gummy candies.  Pictures from social media indicated that they can come in a variety of colors. They may be in packages labeled "Strain: Tangilope" or "Strain: Double Dream."

The Sanford Police Department is encouraging parents to discuss the seriousness of the possession and consumption of these 'edibles' as they are dangerous and can result in felony criminal charges.
