"It's clear he hasn't been very lucky with the ladies the last few months," said Zimmerman's attorney, Don West.
According to the police report, Zimmerman's girlfriend said she was trying to break up with Zimmerman on Monday. She told police Zimmerman got so upset, he made threatening comments to her, threw her phone, breaking it, and threw a wine bottle in her direction in the driveway of a Lake Mary home.
She told police they were also arguing about a painting Zimmerman made. The woman said Zimmerman wanted it back.
According to the report, police were in the neighborhood last Monday night when they heard glass shatter, then they saw the woman drive down the street with her headlights off. They pulled her over, noting that she was very upset and emotional. According to the report, police say she described Zimmerman as a "psychopath."
Police say after venting, the woman made it clear she did not want to participate in the investigation and, "refused to provide further details of the incident."
After four days of trying on and off to get a hold of Zimmerman, police say Zimmerman told them he did not throw the wine bottle at the woman. He said she threw the bottle up against the garage door herself. In the report, Zimmerman states he didn't break the phone either. He told police the victim's cell phone was broken by her child a year ago.
"The details in the police report are only part of the story," West said. "We're going to wait until we have the whole story, before we assess the merits of this very serious charge."
