New developments in deadly Orlando daycare crash

The driver accused of being behind the wheel of an SUV that slammed into another car which then careened into an Orlando daycare center back in April was in court on Wednesday.

Robert Corchado is accused of fleeing the scene of the crash that set off a chain reaction that led to the injury of 14 children and the death of 4-year-old Lily Quintus.  He later turned himself into authorities and has been in jail ever since.

Corchado has been charged for crashing the Dodge Durango that he was driving into a black Toyota Solara, but he faces no charges related to the injuries and death at the Goldenrod Road KinderCare.

Wednesday a judge said the Toyota Solara will be returned to its owner.

"The facts and circumstances would not indicate that whoever was driving the Dodge Durango that struck the Solara knew, or should have known, that that car went into the daycare center," said Corchado's attorney Danny Tumarkin. "So what happened afterwards is not relevant to my case."

Corchado remains behind bars on additional charges of heroin trafficking and cocaine possession.  His next court date is scheduled for a week from Thursday.
