Moment of silence, vigils announced for victims of Orlando mass shooting

- There will be a moment of silence on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. for the victims and families of the deadly mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.  In addition, several local vigils will be held.

 

The City of Orlando has released names of victims of the nightclub shooting whose next of kin have been contacted. The list will be periodically updated on www.cityoforlando.net/bloc/victims/ as those who died are identified and families and loved ones notified.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has declared the city in "a state of emergency" and Gov. Rick Scott extended it to all of Orange County.  "Tonight our community witnessed or experienced a very horrific crime," Dyer said.

Lake Eola at 6 p.m.,   Downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park-- A vigil will be held tonight at Lake Eola from 6-8 p.m. with candles, flowers, guitars and open hearts. 

Parliament House at 7 p.m., 410 North Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando 32805 -- The popular club has canceled their previously scheduled show to host a community vigil for the families and victims.

Ember Orlando at 7 p.m., 42 W Central Blvd -- The downtown bar will be providing complimentary food and beverages throughout the day followed by a candlelight vigil held at 7 pm. 

Joy Metropolitan Church at 6 p.m., 2351 S Ferncreek Ave, Orlando 32806 -- Inviting the community to pray for the victims and their families.
