Man, 87, recovering after alligator attack

DELAND, Fla. (AP) - An 87-year-old man who was bitten by an alligator on Sunday, is recovering.  Now, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating.

Volusia County deputies on Sunday responded to Lake Beresford, near DeLand, to find Richard Knuebel conscious and alert, before he was taken by ambulance to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

The 8-to-9-foot-long (approximately 2-meter-long) alligator bit Knuebel on his hand and leg.  FWC is now attempting to locate and trap the alligator.
