Man protests outside Vatican Embassy for 17 years

John Wojnowski has been protesting outside the Vatican Embassy in D.C. for the past 17 years.

He says he was molested by a priest in Italy when he was just 15 and suppressed the memories for 39 years, but he has been protesting nearly every evening since the memories came back.

Wojnowski told FOX 5's Alexandra Limon that he's not completely against Pope Francis' visit. At a minimum, he says it will shine a spotlight on the issues of child sex abuse at the hands of priests.

He says Pope Francis does seems different, and he hopes that he will bring reform to the Catholic Church.

Wojnowski commutes to the Vatican Embassy via two buses and the Metro every day, and it takes him about an hour each way.

He says being there gives his life meaning.
