Man arrested, accused of shooting 10-month-old puppy to death

A man is behind bars accused of killing a 10-month-old puppy in Flagler County.

Kevin McClenithan was arrested on charges of animal cruelty.

Deputies say the convicted felon shouldn't have had a gun.

He told them the 10-month-old puppy named Bullet acted aggressively toward him and tried to bite him and the homeowner.

The puppy's owner Jeanne Durrance says her three teenage children are mourning Bullet's loss.

"When I say that my daughter was hysterical, she couldn't even stand," Durrance said.

The puppy was found shot to death on Friday in a gated yard.

According to McClenithan's arrest report, he was convicted in 2012 on burglary charges in Flagler County.

Durrance says her and her family will miss Bullet.
