The Winter Park Police Department has been working hard to remind all roadway users to pay attention and follow the rules of the road. The Agency first started with the education phase, then transitioned into the warning phase, now they move into the enforcement phase.

Starting Tuesday April 19th, the WPPD will be giving tickets to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists who disobey the rules of the road. Therefore, any motorist, pedestrian or bicyclist observed failing to obey traffic laws can expect to receive a citation costing as much as $164.00.

Orange County, Florida continues to lead the state with the highest number of pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities and injuries. During 2014 in Orange County alone, there were 52 pedestrians and bicyclists killed in traffic collisions, which is significantly higher than any other single county in the State of Florida.
