Warnings of rough surf, beach dangers for Thanksgiving holiday weekend

With unusually warm November temperatures, people are flocking to beach along East Central Florida like a magnet. Many are in search of a relaxing alternative to Black Friday, but the National Weather Service is warning swimmers to avoid powerful rip currents by remaining in knee deep waters. Reports of surf in the range of 5-7 feet has been reported, which many strengthened by high winds, and an unusually high tide.
This delighted a handful of surfers, who managed to get past the powerful break to carve up a rare ride. But far more just couldn't make it... and were left watching from the shore.
Brevard County Lifeguards say the red flag, which indicates high hazard, is expected to remain up for the entire weekend.
