UCF shows students active shooting training video

It's not something you want to think about, but the University of Central Florida Police Departments says it's something for which you should be prepared.  In a four-minute training video, UCF Police Sergeant Adam Casebolt explains three ways to handle an active shooter situation.

"Run, hide, fight!" he says.

Sgt. Casebolt says that, if you can safely get out of the area, run as far as you can and call 911.  If that's not possible, hide.

If your cornered with nowhere to go, he says you should fight. He suggests grabbing chairs or fire extinguishers and making the most of your surroundings.

The video is now being shown at orientation. They will also show it to staff during meetings.

Sgt. Casebolt says if there's an active shooter situation at UCF, the school will send out an alert by text and email to let students and staff know what's happening.
