UberEATS a new way to bring food to your home

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Do you want to eat at your favorite local restaurant, but don't feel like going out? Well, there's an app for that! 

A new app, called UberEATS, is developed by the ride-share service Uber and now available at 150 restaurants in Downtown Orlando, Winter Park, and the area around the University of Central Florida.

"You get your food delivered under 35 minutes, and it comes fresh and hot in a heated insulated bag," says Uber Eats Expansion member Phil Mikhaylov.

You chose your restaurant, and order what you want, how you want it.  The order comes into the restaurant, and once the food is prepared, the driver is dispatched, your order is checked, and then delivered to your door,.

"This unlocks additional economic opportunities for current Uber driver partners. It allows them to earn extra supplemental income," says Uber media representative Javi Correoso.

The app also gives dine-in restaurants room to expand to people who want to eat their food at home, but don't want to go through the trouble of ordering out.

Natalie Rivera, manager at Hawkers Asian Street Fare in Orlando, says the restaurant has been using UberEATS for a week and has already seen a profit, ahead of Wednesday's official launch of the app.

"It's only a small portion that they take from the proceeds of what we make, but just from week one, we saw like a $3,000 increase, which is pretty significant.  So the fee is worth, I mean we get a lot of business from it."

Each restaurant has a radius where they deliver, and for a limited time, you can try it out for free.  After that, there's a flat $4.99 fee for delivery.
