Neighbors along Jefferson Street woke up Wednesday morning to an active investigation into two people found dead inside an apartment.

What a way to wake up.

“I just came out to be a little nosy and I see all the cops and the ambulance everywhere,” said neighbor Martina Leakes.

Leakes lives next to the apartment complex on Jefferson Street in Orlando where police say a man and woman were found dead in an apartment.  They were identified on Thursday as 52-year-old Cynthia Stack and 22-year-old Sean Stack. They were mother and son.

“I actually used to live there last year. It's actually really quiet so to wake up to this is kind of shocking,” said Leakes.

Police are not yet releasing the names of the people found, but say they’re investigating this as a homicide. Leakes says the woman who lived in the apartment was friendly.

“The lady used to actually just speak all the time to me and everything when I walked past.”

Animal Services was called to the scene after officers removed a dog from the home. There are still few other details about what happened. Martina Leakes hopes for answers soon so she can keep her four daughters safe.

“It’s all kinds of things running through my mind right now. My stomach is kind of bubbly and everything from this. It's scary because you don't know what's going on. You don't know what happened.”
