Teens behind fatal Winter Park beating sentenced

On Monday, two teenagers convicted of beating another teenager to death in Winter Park were sentenced.

The convicted killers, Jesse Sutherland and Simeon Hall, were sentenced to 9- 12 months jail time, with the possibility of a shorter sentence depending on good behavior. They will serve their sentence in a high-risk juvenile detention center.

The victim was 15-year-old Roger Trindade. Sutherland Hall were also fifteen when they were arrested. The case was tried in adult court, but originally started in juvenile court and will end in juvenile court -- and that's why Roger's parents are angry.

"I think this is a shame on the state of Florida and it is a bad joke," says father Rodrigo Trindade. He thinks it is a bad joke that the men convicted of killing his son will never spend a day in prison.

A jury found Sutherland and Hall guilty of Battery and Manslaughter, convinced they beat Roger Trindade to death in Winter Park in October 2016.

The case was transferred to adult court after Hall was arrested for another crime while on house arrest.
