SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a SunRail train in Sanford. That person, which authorities have identified as 13-year-old Marcees Kilpatrick, died from his injuries.
Kilpatrick was walking his bicycle across the railroad tracks around 6 p.m. on Friday, when he was struck.
"It's sad," said neighbor Tammy Spivey. "It's too much stuff been going on, people been losing their lives around here and for a child to get hit by a train?"
"What we do know is that this is a commonly used walking path that connects one neighborhood to the other, and a lot of pedestrians," explained Sanford Police spokesperson Bianca Gillett.
SunRail trains were in a holding pattern for some time. Authorities said there is video of the incident which they will review, to determine exactly what led to this fatality.
