City of Orlando, Orlando City SC reach deal for MLS stadium

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The City of Orlando and the Orlando City Soccer Club struck a deal Monday about funding for the future MLS stadium.

In the deal, the city is receiving $18 million from the team for the stadium land, which the Lions plan to pay over a 15-year period.

The deal will tie the Major League Soccer franchise to the team for at least a decade.

The 12 acres of city-owned land for the new stadium is along Church Street in Parramore.

The stadium is expected to cost $155 million dollars to complete.

With the stadium set to open in 2017, the Lions will play the full 2016 season in the Citrus Bowl.
