Tavares police investigating death of woman, 88

TAVARES, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Tavares Police are investigating the death of an 88-year-old woman.  Authorities said Rosemary Getz was found deceased in her home on Doris Avenue, having been the victim of a fatal gun shot owund.  

Officers went to the home for a well-being check around 2 p.m on Friday, where they encountered Carl Lange, 88, described as Getz's "companion" of 25 years.

"Upon arrival, they encountered Mr. Lange who admitted to killing his longtime companion as part of a pact in which he would kill himself as well," said Tavares Police Chief Stoney Lubins in a statement sent to FOX 35. "Police prevented his access to a firearm that was on a nearby table."
