SUV crashes into Cocoa medical office

A sport utility vehicle crashed into a Cocoa-area medical office on Thursday, according to authorities. Despite the chaos and the damage, no one was injured.

Dr. Dania Sosa was stunned as she surveyed the damage caused by the crash.  She said the driver of the vehicle was one of her patients, a 69-year-old Cocoa woman.  Around 10 a.m., she accidentally hit the gas pedal and crashed into the building, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dr. Sosa said the room that received the most damage had an examination chair that was reserved for another patient who ended up canceling an appointment. "That patient would have been in that chair, which is just awful to think about," she said.

Shortly before the crash, an employee who was preparing the room, was called to the front desk to answer a phone.  That employee narrowly missed being injured.

A wrecker pulled the 2011 Dodge Nitro out of the building by Thursday afternoon. The driver has been charged with careless driving.   The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is also investigating the incident.
